Primary School Programme

(Grade 1 - 6)

Welcome to Primary School at Planetarium International School

At Planetarium International School, we provide a dynamic and nurturing environment where every child is empowered to explore, learn, and grow. Our Primary Programme is guided by the internationally respected Cambridge curriculum, designed to build a solid academic foundation while developing the whole child.

About The Program

From the early years to the upper secondary levels, each stage of the Cambridge Pathway is designed to develop deep subject knowledge while promoting independent thought and a growth mindset.

We empower learners to take ownership of their education, explore their interests, and embrace challenges with resilience and joy. With passionate teachers, a supportive environment, and a commitment to academic excellence, PISM is a place where the love for learning flourishes— every day.

Our Learners: Shaping the Future

We are proud to foster learners who demonstrate the five Cambridge Learner Attributes. Our students are:

  • Confident– secure in knowledge, willing to take risks and try new things
  • Responsible– respectful of others and their environment
  • Reflective– learning from experience and feedback
  • Innovative– creative and critical thinkers who seek solutions
  • Engaged– actively involved and eager to contribute
Academic Excellence with a Global Perspective

Our core subjects—English, Mathematics, and Science—are taught using the Cambridge Primary framework, ensuring global standards and local relevance. In Year 6, students undertake the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint exams, which provide valuable feedback and help chart the next stage of their learning journey.

Early Literacy with Jolly Phonics

In Years 1 and 2, we lay a strong literacy foundation through the Jolly Phonics programme, enabling students to develop decoding, spelling, and reading fluency in an engaging, multi-sensory way.

Languages that Connect

We embrace multilingualism, offering dedicated lessons in:

  • English (medium of instruction)
  • Bahasa Malaysia
  • Mandarin (HSK and YCT)

This trilingual approach strengthens communication skills and cultural understanding.

Beyond the Core: Holistic Education

To support balanced development, our students experience a rich variety of non-core subjects, including:

  • Computing– building digital fluency and tech skills
  • Performing Arts & Visual Arts– nurturing self-expression and creativity
  • Physical Education– promoting fitness, coordination, and teamwork
  • Wellbeing– supporting emotional health and personal growth
  • History & Geography– exploring the past and understanding the world
  • Money Matters– cultivating early financial literacy
Leadership and Life Skills– PISM PREFECTS

At Planetarium International School, we believe in nurturing leadership and independence from a young age. Our Primary Prefect Programme begins in Year 5, giving students the opportunity to take on responsibilities, represent their peers, and build confidence in public speaking and decision-making.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

We offer enriching annual field trips that extend learning into real-world environments. These experiences support inquiry-based learning, foster teamwork, and give students memorable, hands-on exposure to the world around them.
